Outgoing Captain's Speech

March 25, 2024

Please see below a message from our outgoing men's captain Bob Dhammi

I am looking forward to the Captains Drive-In on the 6th of April and handing over the men's captaincy to Ant Lander. He will do a great job as custodian of the role, and I am sure it will be a great day also!
Before doing that my last task is to say thank you for the help and support I have received over the last 2 years.
Trying to do that and not miss anyone out is impossible so I apologise in advance if I do!
Everyone has been so supportive at the club in my time as captain. I can honestly say that I have had help from everyone at the club, particularly Will, Lee, Keith & Steve in the Pro Shop, Tia, Richard & Tracey in the bar, the Ignite Golf Academy, Dave Atkins (beat the Pro), Ian & Ben at Midlands Golf are just a few that have gone out of their way to help and I have never had to ask for anything twice.
As well as thanking them for supporting me during my captaincy I am grateful for the ongoing work they do for all of us to make Stonebridge the great place it is. I was also supported by 2 great captains from the ladies section. With both Marion and Pam we forged a great partnership with C&W MIND and It Takes Balls To Talk!
Last but not least it is the members that I want to thank. Every event and fund-raising activity was well attended and supported with a really positive spirit and the amounts raised were far in excess of any expectations I had at the start of my tenure. Most importantly I have the sense and hope that the nature of the charities we have been supporting has led to conversations about mental health and emotional well-being becoming easier to raise with one another. That has been my experience anyway and if that is true, I hope this very much this continues.
Four to five hours playing golf leaves plenty of opportunity to check in on each other. We should always take that chance whenever we can.
Hopefully I will see you at the Drive-In or at the club in the near future.
I will always be grateful for the support you have shown.

Thank you

Bob Dhammi
